Darlin’, that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to my bizarro taste in music. Just tell me you love Dolly Parton and we’ll call this a match made in music heaven.

The Temptations & Supremes “Not Now I’ll Tell You Later” (1963, from The LP The Tempting Temptations, 1966)
As the well known legend goes, If there were no Primes there would have never been any Primettes. Otherwise, if it weren’t for Paul Williams and Eddie Kendricks recruiting Florence Ballard to form a sister group, there would have never been The Supremes. Florence would have become a nurse, Diana an aspiring dress designer/model and Mary a housewife.
Anyways, before either act had a Top 40 hit, they reunited for this unique perspective on not hurrying love from the late fall of 1963. Most notable is how Diana stands out in the chorus of voices, and Florence’s wailing Soprano on the fade, not all that dissimilar from The Supremes own album track “Long Gone Lover” from the same period.
A Good Man is Hard to Find read by Flannery herself. Do yourself a favor and listen.
I love the little lip smackin’ clickin’ sound that she makes before she starts a new sentence. If I close my eyes, and open the windows to hear the cicadas, I can almost pretend that Flannery and I are sittin’ on the porch at Andalusia, watching the sun go down while she reads to me.
